Fitness is an important state of health and well being and, more specifically, your ability to do different parts of physical activities, jobs and sports well. In today’s hectic society, physical fitness has become more important than ever. It is also becoming more important than ever to find ways to make our work lives more active. For this reason, many people have turned to various forms of exercise to get themselves in shape.
Exercise can help you lose weight, boost your stamina, improve your immune system, and improve your well-being. In addition, it can keep you physically fit and in shape for longer. Fitness therefore, means different things to different people. However, when you are thinking about good health, physical activity and fitness mean different things to different people. The fact is that all these things go together.
There are various definitions for the concept of fitness and some people prefer to see it as a specific kind of physical activity and others like to see fitness as the total opposite of obesity. Another definition for fitness has been defined as the absence of obesity and overweight. Fitness therefore, in this narrower sense, means being of a healthy weight (but it could also mean being of a healthy weight plus a little extra so as to achieve the same end result – being able to do some sort of moderate exercise regularly).
Cardiovascular fitness, on the other hand, is typically measured by your resting heart rate, your pulse rate, and your triglyceride levels in your blood. As long as your heart rate and/or pulse rate stays within normal limits, your cardiac fitness is considered good. Cardio fitness, however, is frequently measured by using exercise machines such as the treadmill or elliptical. Because these exercise machines typically measure your speed and the distance you have gone during your workout, they do not necessarily take into account your cardiovascular fitness. Thus, it is important to train carefully and specifically to improve your cardio fitness, particularly if you are at risk for developing heart disease or some other kind of heart-related problem.
Muscular strength and body composition are the terms used to describe the fitness of your muscular and skeletal systems. This definition differs from the definition of fitness used above because muscular strength is primarily measured by using free weights, whereas body composition is measured more directly by using fat analysis methods (i.e., body fat). Some fitness experts believe that muscular strength alone is usually not as useful as body composition when it comes to predicting how healthy an individual is. Indeed, muscular strength is typically measured using a variety of equipment, while body composition is measured without these potentially harmful devices.
Finally, when we talk about health, it is important to remember that there are several levels of physical fitness: Very good, reasonable, good but not great, fair, and poor. The higher the level of physical fitness you aspire to achieve, the more exercise you should be doing to stay active. However, even though exercise is important to maintain optimal health, too much exercise is not always the answer, as some people are genetically or biologically predisposed to overuse of any exercise routine. Therefore, it is important to seek the advice of your physician before beginning any exercise regimen and to make sure that you meet the recommended levels of physical fitness for your age group.
